What to Expect
A workshop is immersion. Over two days, you'll move through a complete painting process—from first mark to finished work—alongside other painters who are hungry to learn. There's an energy in a studio full of people working toward the same goal. The music plays. The conversation flows. The work speaks.
You'll build a real painting using Shannon's layered technique: graphite structure, geometric precision, transparent washes that reveal what's underneath, and oils that bring everything alive. By day two, you're not thinking about the method anymore—you're thinking about your painting.
These workshops focus on fundamentals that matter: how to see color the way painters do, why composition holds (or falls apart), how light and shadow transform a flat surface into something you can almost step into. Whether you're picking up a brush for the first time or you've been painting for years, you'll walk away understanding not just what you made, but the why behind it.

Private Painting Classes with Shannon Rios
What to Expect
Step into the studio and paint alongside four decades of experience. In private classes, you'll work in rhythm with your own pace; no competition, no compromise. We'll explore the foundations that drive all strong paintings: color mixing that actually works, how light and shadow create drama, the geometry that holds a composition together.
You'll start with graphite, building structure and intention before a single brush touches canvas. From there, we layer, spray paint/acrylic inks then transparent washes that let the underpainting speak, building depth and luminosity that feels alive on the canvas. It's the same process Shannon uses for her signature work, adapted to where you are right now.
The studio runs on music & positivity. It's a tool that loosens everything, your hand, your thinking, the fear. You'll work in a space built for focus, where the goal is the work itself, not the result.
This is painting as a conversation between you and the canvas. You'll leave understanding not just what you made, but why it works.

Private Class : 2 hours$60 One-on-one instruction. Focus on technique, composition, color theory, and your artistic goals. Materials provided.*
Extended Session 4 hours $120 Deep dive into a single piece or project. Perfect for working through a painting from start to finish. Materials provided.*
